DEMOCRATIC PARTY

CDP Vice Chair David Campos Re-Election Announcement

Our country and our party are at a crossroads. For people like me—an openly gay man who was a formerly undocumented youth—the election of Donald Trump raises the question of whether there will be a place for me and my communities in this country.

Trump is talking about mass deportations that target people like me who came to this country undocumented, in search of the American Dream, and contribute to the betterment of this country every day. I personally owe it to these people to give them a voice.

I also owe it to the Democratic Party to make sure we fight for the Latino Community, a community which shockingly supported Trump, a man who could care less about us, our families, and our communities.

During my current term as Vice Chair, I’ve traveled all across the state and heard directly from California Democrats on the ground what they need, what they hope for, and what we can do to support them. We know what our values are as California Democrats, and we know that these values resonate throughout the state.

To those of you who spent your time, money, and energy traveling to key swing states to fight for our future, thank you. As bad as the outcome was at the national level, I believe that things would have been much worse without the incredible work of California Democrats and the investments we made on the ground with our organizing team.

The values we hold dear - economic opportunity for all, access to reproductive and gender affirming care, healthcare for all, climate justice, and more - are going to be the first issues on the chopping block under the Trump administration. In our fight to win back the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, we need to make sure that every county has a seat at the table. We need to make sure that each county has the resources and support needed to win our local battleground fights. And we need to make sure that the California Democratic Party is speaking to the full range of issues that Californians care about in a way that is honest, direct, and actionable.

We have a choice to make. And I choose to fight. This is why I’ve decided to run for re-election as Vice Chair of the California Democratic Party. I hope that you will join me.
